In this lesson we looked at Little Red Riding Hood and got introduced to the Todorov Theory.
Little Red Riding Hood
Goes to see her nan. Mum tells her before not to talk to strangers. Whilst picking flowers for her nan, she is seen and approached by the wolf. She gives away where she is going and then carries on walking. The wolf gets there before she does and eats her nan. When LRRH's about to be eaten by the wolf, the wolf is shot. And LRRH and LRRH's nan is saved.
Todorov -> 'linear narrative'
- Equilibrium - all in order, 'normal' & happy
- Disruption - a disruption to the equilibrium by the means of an event/ action/ character
- Recognition - there is recognition that a disruption has taken place
- Repair - an attempt to repair the damage caused by disruption
- New Equilibrium - problem solved and we return to a new type of equilibrium
